How were ideas spread? Universities – humanists would teach at Italian universities Shared ideas through discussions and writings Students would go back to their cities and share what they learned Travelling Celebrities – famous Renaissance scientists, artists, and thinkers were in demand in courts and universities all over Europe Royal courts – Kings and Queens were eager to attract scholars and writers to their courts

The Printing Press: A New Technology
Most people were illiterate – only educated people in society could read and write Most books were written in Latin, the language of scholars and the church Only the wealthy could afford books 1450 – Gutenberg developed the printing press and changed everything This allowed books to be produced quickly and cheaply Books allowed the exchange of ideas and knowledge in Europe

How are new technological/scientific discoveries challenging or altering our worldview?
The creation of the Internet greatly changed our Worldview Constantly in contact with family, friends, colleagues, etc Every answer is at our finger tips Political campaigns are won on the internet (ex. Twitter) We are our own doctors Jobs have been lost or decreased (ex. Bankers) No more high school reunions

You are going to pick a technological or scientific advancement/discovery – it can be current or one within the last 20 years Pick something that interests you Ex. Self-driving cars, Youtube, Internet, genetically modified food, video games, DNA testing, etc
