Many magazine articles involve scientific content
Our society is based on SCIENCE!

3. Difficulty Why is reading science hard? VOCABULARY!
Science has a lot of new words that a reader may not be familiar with.
It may be difficult to keep track of new words in an article
Science reading provides fewer contextual clues

4. How So, how do we read science? Learn your vocabulary
Be able to identify new vocabulary
Be able to pick out key information
Be able to relate key information to knowledge you all ready have.

If you read articles with certain vocabulary words in the article, you will be more likely to know its meaning.

6. Contextual Clues
Use the context to help you figure out what the meaning of the word is.
In the above quote, what does the word “symptoms” mean?
How do you know that?
Wednesday's memo also says players "are to be encouraged to be candid with team medical staffs and fully disclose any signs or symptoms that may be associated with a concussion."

7. When You Read
When you read, you should treat it like you would any other task:
Focus on reading, rather than on other things.
Train your mind to focus on the printed word in front of you instead of being distracted by other things
The brain will want to jump to something easier to do, but you need to force it to focus.
The more you read, the better you will get at it.
