Find some products/packaging that have the FSC logo on it. Explain the role of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). How does it link to the different types of wood? Plastics come in 2 main categories, thermosetting plastic and thermoplastic, research the names of different types of plastic that fit into each category Collect examples of products/packaging made from plastics. Research the logos found on plastic packaging that link to recycling, what are they and what do they mean? Metals come in 3 main categories, ferrous, non ferrous, alloys. Research the different types of metal, name examples of different types of metal that go in each category. Collect examples of products/packaging made from metal or with foil lining Research which metal products/ packaging can be recycled, how many of these items do you use? How many do you recycle? Create a table that shows what can be recycled and what you do recycle.

3 3D Design - Year 9 AO1 - Research – a variety of sources/types of research will help you achieve the best results AO2 – Ideas – a variety of methods for recording your ideas will help you achieve the best results AO3 – Quality of your communication – giving detailed opinions/ evaluation throughout AO4 – the quality of your outcome – is it finished? is it well made? Research artists that link to your project 1. Collect images of their work 2. Analyse the images you have collected – what is the theme of the artists work? What colours have they used? Why do you think those colours have been chosen? What do the colours represent? Add key words / paragraphs to your work. 3. Create a piece of your own work in their style Create more ideas for your project Use different methods – draw/ paint/ collage/ model – to create ideas for your project 2. Be creative with the shape/design/ features that you include 3. You may think of other artists to research as your ideas develop – do it and link back to A01. This criteria is covered in every piece of work that you do Add your opinion to your work Identify strengths of your work Identify areas for improvement Your final piece is the evidence for this assessment objective. Ask yourself the following questions: Is my work finished? Have I used a range of techniques/ methods Is my work of a high quality? Return to after school interventions if you have answered no to any of the above questions. Primary source research that links your theme (Pop Art) Take photos of things that link to your project, e.g. Pop Art included a lot of packaging – take photos of packaging. Collect items that link to your project e.g. packaging, create a collage of logos Draw parts of your collage, you could focus on the small details or the overall effect Explain your ideas fully Label your ideas to explain techniques/ methods for manufacture Describe the reason why you have chosen each technique Explain the positives and negatives about each technique – think about time/ resources/ ability/ quality of outcome Link your ideas to artists and techniques that you have trialled
