Example 1: Salt Lake City, Utah
Salt Lake City, UT is known as the “City of Saints” and “Crossroads of the West”. Its industries include mining, steel production, and railroading. Utah was also the place where the Transcontinental Railroad was completed.

This led me to go with a railroad theme. Railroad signs were my inspiration for my logo.

At Promontory Point, Utah, when the Transcontinental Railroad was completed they used a golden spike. This became my team name. My team colors of gold and silver were inspired by Utah’s mining history and the golden spike. My team slogan was also railroad-themed: “Golden Spikes: Full Steam Ahead!”

Example 2: Boise, Idaho Boise, Idaho is known as the “City of Trees.” It is the state capital and major industries include paper and wood production, and electronics.

Oklahoma City is known for its oil and livestock industry. It is the only capital city that has oil derricks on capitol grounds.

The importance of the oil industry to the city led me to the team name of the Roughnecks. A roughneck is an oil field worker.
