So What? “Roadmaps” are useful in two ways Pull together an overall approach – typically looking for longer-term (~three years to a decade, typically) implementation needs Provide both a consensus of and education to an appropriate sampling of stakeholders in the outcome of an activity These were called for in the aforementioned “ Charter” The Roadmap report – and the associated interactions, discussions, and activities of the Roadmap Study Team accomplished these objectives “Roadmaps” are not Program or Project Plans They do not provide detailed schedules, which must be both resource loaded and funded and approved by higher levels of management 28 November 2017o PDS Management Council Meeting - Tucson, Arizona

6 PDS Management Council Meeting - Tucson, Arizona
The Way Forward Good roadmaps do provide “a way forward” – along with options to match ever-changing resource realities As Noted in the Project Manager’s report there is movement in Assembling a Project Plan Estimating required resources Accelerating the conversion of heritage files to PDS4 Accelerating PDS4 tool development 28 November 2017 PDS Management Council Meeting - Tucson, Arizona

7 PDS Management Council Meeting - Tucson, Arizona
The Job Never Ends To accomplish all of these things in a timely fashion pro-active management is key As the Roadmap suggested, even that requires resources But we are further ahead now than we were before Continued efficient cooperation between the nodes and the Project Office is necessary, but not sufficient,… … although it is a start 28 November 2017 PDS Management Council Meeting - Tucson, Arizona
