The Brunswick Fire Company No. 1 realizes the unique stress involved in some of the services we provide to our Community. Stress can have immediate effects, cumulative effects, and can often go unnoticed until, much needed personnel leave the service.

3 04-12 Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD)
There is not any emergency services that can afford the loss of trained personnel. The Brunswick Fire Company No. 1 shall utilize the Rensselaer County Bureau of Public Safety Reduced Emergency Stress Team (REST).

4 04-12 Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD)
This team is comprised of professional advisors and peer support personnel in the fields of emergency medical services (EMS), Fire and Police. The service provided is not for the purpose of critiquing the emergency management of an incident.

5 04-12 Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD)
The focus of this service is to minimize the harmful effects of stress that can occur following a critical incident. Any member of the Brunswick Fire Company No. 1 at any time can ask for the activation of REST.

6 04-12 Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD)
Activation notification must go through the Chief or the next Senior Officer in the Chief’s absence. The Officer will contact Dispatch, ask for the On-Duty Supervisor, who will make the necessary notifications. They will ask for the Contact and Phone Number of the person that REST can contact to get more information, and arrange a date, time, and location for the team to meet with personnel.
