Year 10 Science Curriculum
Y10 Combined Science (2 GCSEs): Students have 6 science lessons per week: 2 x Bio; 2 x Chem; 2 x Phys Y10 GCSE Chemistry, GCSE Biology, GCSE Physics): Students have 9 science lessons per week*: 3 x Bio; 3 x Chem; 3 x Phys * Plus one extra lesson per fortnight

Combined Science There are six papers: two biology, two chemistry and two physics (1hr 15 mins each). Each paper assesses knowledge and understanding from distinct topic areas.

2018 Results - highlights 100% of our students passed their GCSEs in Biology and Chemistry; 97% in Physics >50% of students taking each of the separate science GCSEs achieved a grade 7 or above 55% of students taking Combined Science passed 10% of students taking Combined Science achieved a grade 7 or above Grade 4 or above for pass

How you can help your child
Make sure they have the equipment they need in school every day: their Science book (10p to replace lost books); scientific calculator (Casio fx-85GT Plus); 30cm transparent ruler, protractor, pencils, rubber and pens Check they are completing their homework (practicing key concepts) Ensure they are accessing the online revision resources on Doddle regularly to test themselves

Revision Resources Doddle (paid for by the school)
BBC GCSE bitesize KS4 - videos of all topics covered (entry level resources are free to access) CGP Science Revision Guides and Exam Practice workbooks Students have to learn and memorise a minimum of 21 Physics equations, including the units for each quantity. These will be issued to them during Year 10 and they should start learning them as they cover them in class. You can help by testing them!
