Self-controlled, disciplined
Mastering your desires and passions At the foundation of everything we do and don’t do. Every sin we commit involves self-control. Cain warned – Genesis 4:6-7 In the Bible – Galatians 5:22-23, 2 Peter 1:5-7 Acts 24:25, 1 Corinthians 9:24-27, Romans 6:12-13 It can prevent regret because of something we say or do Discipline keeps us moving forward Cause us do to the unpleasant but necessary

Alertness, soberness Attentive or perceptive to what is going on around us Soberness, vigilance, watchful Jesus warned – Matt. 26:41 In the Bible – Romans 12:3, 1 Cor. 16:13, 1 Peter 1:13, 4:7, 5:8 Can make us aware of the needs and conditions of others so as to proceed with caution – i.e. saying the right thing, opportune time, etc.

Don’t forget social media!!!
Tactfulness Careful in our conversation and conduct so as not to unnecessarily offend Joseph – Genesis 41:33-46 Paul - Philemon In the Bible – Matthew 10:16, Eph. 5:15, Prov. 15:18, James 1:19, Colossians 4:6, Jude 22, 1 Peter 3:15 When we care it governs what we say and how we say it. Our goal is what is best, not just to win Don’t forget social media!!!

Easier to share the gospel with others
Confidence Assurance, certainty. We know what we are doing or talking about. NOT arrogance! Paul – Acts 28:31 2 Timothy 1:12, 4:7-8 Coupled with humility! In the Bible – 1 John 2:28, 5:14, Romans 8:37-39 Philippians 1:27-28 Confidence in God can lead to confidence in other things It builds trust Confidence in others as well Easier to share the gospel with others

Sincerity, genuineness
Without pretense or hypocrisy. Authentic Everything in our life needs to be with sincerity! Paul – 2 Corinthians 1:12 In the Bible – 1 Peter 2:1, James 3:17, Philippians 1:9-10, Ephesians 6:5, 1 John 3:18 This helps with those whom we have established influence! Builds trust and credibility Easier to deal address problems

Accountable to God causes one to think of others!
Responsibility To be accountable and dependable. Not flippant! Jesus – John 10:11-14 In the Bible – Genesis 3:13-14 Matthew 25:14-30 Romans 14:12, Matt. 5:37, Luke 17:10 1 Corinthians 4:2 Holds himself accountable instead of passing the blame Realizes that decisions have consequences that affect others Accountable to God causes one to think of others!

Calmness One whose state of mind is free of panic, agitation or disturbance. Demonstrates one in control. Jesus – Matthew 8:23-27 Matthew 11:28-30 In the Bible – Ephesians 4:26, James 1:19, Proverbs 14:30, 15:1, 17:27 Philippians 4:6 Keeps us from jumping to conclusions Can keep situations from flaring up or getting out of control Peacemakers!

Optimism Anticipation of favorable results in a given situation Assuming the best in others The qualities we have discussed in this lesson will lend to a hopeful disposition
