Challenge students to infer what “it” is as you read the book aloud without showing illustrations or cover.
Read The Wind Blew by Pat Hutchins aloud.
Students will discuss with a partner what “it” is.
Discuss as a class what students think “it” is.
Go back and look at some illustrations to support inference
Use printed labels for students to connect to the text in their science notebook.

Gather materials:
1 Ping Pong Ball
1 Measuring Tape
1 Cup
1 Air Pump
Complete Wind Challenges with a partner.

8. Explain Read aloud I Face the Wind by Vicki Cobb
Pause throughout to ask questions and do activities.
Read pages 1-12
“What is the wind made of?” Try it using plastic bag.
There are many more activities in the lesson that allows for students to continue to build their knowledge and reinforce what they have learned.
