[CLICK] Early voting for the November election begins on October 22 and ends on November 3. Our intent is to encourage people to vote early for two main reasons: 1) high rates of early voting will help reduce complications on Election Day and 2) no NEISD facilities are involved with early voting. As a reminder, voters can early vote at any location – it doesn’t have to be within their precinct.

[CLICK] The average voter turnout for a midterm election in Bexar County is about just under 32% percent. In the state it’s about 1/3.

3. Procedures Campaign Signs GKD (R)
Signs may be erected only at polling locations.
Signs may be erected one day prior to November 6.
Signs must be removed within 24 hours after November 6.
Signs may not be larger than 48” wide and 24” tall.
Signs may not be affixed to a stake taller than 36”.
Three single signs per measure or candidate may be erected.

Here are some reminders for campaign signs on our campuses. This applies to all of you since people view our schools are public property.
Under GKD, signs can be erected at our campuses that are polling locations only. So none of our schools should have signs erected for early voting. Only those campuses designated an election day polling site may have signs erected one day prior to Election Day and removed within 24 hours of the voting period. Signs may not be larger than 48” wide and 24” tall. Signs may not be affixed to a stake taller than 36”. Three single signs per measure or candidate may be erected.
Signs should not be hung on our fencing.
If you have a candidate who is not following the rules, please share a copy of the GKD regulation with him or her. You may also direct the person to contact me.
It is illegal to place any signs on or within the right of way. This includes posting signs on trees, telephone poles, traffic signs, near parking lot exits and other objects on the right of way.

4. Procedures 43 NEISD Facilities Election Day Polling Sites
Polling location shall be ADA compliant and of reasonable distance from parking.
Adequate visitor parking shall be available.
Voters should not be granted access to any part of campus beyond the designated voting area; this includes restrooms, classrooms and side exits.
A WORK/HVAC request shall be submitted by the Facility Reservations Office for the entire time the part of the building used for voting is open.
Facility should be open by 6 a.m.

5. Procedures Presiding Election Judge Equipment/Procedures
At least two 6-foot smooth tables and four chairs.
Delivery of election equipment is Nov. 1 and Nov. 2. from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Pick-up of election equipment is Nov. 7 and Nov. 8 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Persons dropping off/picking up equipment should follow campus visitor procedures if during the school day.

6. Procedures Presiding Election Judge Licensed to carry a handgun
“…A presiding judge that possesses a handgun license is permitted to carry a handgun while serving as an election judge on Election Day in limited circumstances.”
“…Section of the Education Code makes it an offense to intentionally exhibit a firearm ‘in a manner intended to cause alarm or personal injury’ on school property.”
“SOS recommends that if your presiding judge chooses to carry a firearm to the polling place in a public school that they only carry a concealed weapon to avoid a conflict with Section of the education code.”
