Line graphs can be used when showing sales over a period of time. For example: The graph to the right shows the number of widgets sold from the year by the thousands. In line graphs you need to give a title and label your axis. The graph will not be complete if this is not done.

4. Explanation (Drawing Your Own)
Start by drawing the X and Y axis.
Next you number the axis according to your data, be sure to always start at zero.
Next you should label the axis.
Then you should plot the points on the graph according to your data.
After you do this, you should connect the points with line segments.
Lastly give your line graph a title.

5. Explanation (using Excel)
Start by double clicking the Microsoft Excel icon on your screen. Once you reach Excel plug your data into the excel spreadsheet. This will make your data into a data table. Highlight the data table and click insert and line graph. Be sure to choose the correct type of line graph you need for your data. When done put on the finishing touches by labeling the axis and a correct title.

6. Synthesis
2 advantages of using a line graph are that it is easy to use and you can see the changes over time very clearly.
2 disadvantages of a line graph are that sometimes the points are inaccurate and that if there is no gradual change it doesn’t work for that set of data.
