6. Farm Visit Questions
Discuss your favorite parts of the day, what did you learn and what did you see and why was that important. What did the farm visit make you realize? Did the farm visit led you to question/wonder/consider/think about anything related to the course? Is there anything you need to learn more about as a result of the farm visit?
Are organic farming systems sustainable? Discuss why they are or why they’re not by providing examples? And are they more profitable? Provide examples.
Discuss different ways in which small scale farmers/organic farmers are adapting or mobilizing for action to remain in business while competing with large farming systems. Provide examples used by Margie at Bee Farm.
What does it mean to be USDA Certified Organic? What does it take to be certified? How much does it cost? How long does it last?
