BULLYING

Georgia Law defines bullying as follows:
“Any willful attempt to inflict injury on another person, when accompanied by an apparent present ability to do so; or Any intentional display of force such as would give the victim reason to fear or expect immediate bodily harm.” Any intentional written, verbal, or physical act, which a reasonable person would perceive as being intended to threaten, harass, or intimidate.

Sexual Harassment – “The making of unwanted and offensive sexual advances or of sexually offensive remarks or acts” -

Retention and Promotion
A student may be retained for one of the following 1) 15 or more absences in the core area classes (LA. Sc, SS, Reading & Math) 2) Failure of 2 or more classes 3) If performance indicates that retention is needed

Study Skills Set a regular time to study Remove distractions
Have necessary supplies Record assignments in your agenda

Agendas Understand assignments before leaving class Have a set homework time each day Prepare as much as possible the night before

Making Decisions We all make decisions everyday.
Some decisions are easy to make. Some decisions are difficult to make. When decisions are difficult, it helps to know some steps to take in making them.

Decision Making Steps What is the decision about? What are my choices?
What could happen if I make each choice? What is the best decision?

Difficult Decisions Marcus finds the answers to the Social Studies test on the floor. He failed the last test and has been on punishment since then. He has studied a little, but he knows that he hasn’t studied enough to make an A or B. His mother told him that he would remain on punishment until he makes at least a B. What should he do?

How to meet with Mrs. Parkin
Complete a counselor request form. You may get one from any teacher, Mrs. Parkin or from the office. Give it to any teacher, Mrs. Parkin or receptionist at the front office. Wait until you are called or given a pass to the see the counselor. You MUST bring a SIGNED AGENDA when you come to the counselor’s office.
