P e r g a m o s H Nimrod’s Wife
She was Semiramis (the First), the high priestess of Babel religion. When Nimrod died, the people of Babylon greatly mourned his death. Legend says that his body was cut into pieces, burnt, and sent to various areas. Ralph Edward Woodraw, Babylon Mystery Religion After Nimrod’s death, Semiramis claimed that he was now the sun god, and that she had conceived by a sun beam, having known no man. She gives birth to a son whose name was Tammuz, who supposedly Nimrod, come back to life.

P e r g a m o s H Nimrod’s Wife
In this system, not only was the son worshipped, but so was the mother. That is why in all ancient religions, they all have as part of their worship a mother and child. Because God scattered the people all over the earth. (Gen.11:8)

Encylopedia of Religions, Vol 2 p.398
The Chinese had a mother goddess called Shingmoo, which means, “holy mother” She is pictured with her child in her arms, and rays of glory around her head. Encylopedia of Religions, Vol 2 p.398

In ancient Germany, she was the virgin Hertha, pictured with child under her.

In India, she was known as Indrani, also pictured with child in arms.

In Ephesus, she was known as Dianna.
The temple in Ephesus dedicated to her was one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. Acts 19:27 says in reference to Dianna.. “Whom all Asia and the world worshippeth.” She was said to represent the generative powers of nature and so was pictured with many breast. A tower shaped crown, a symbol of the Tower of Babel adorned her head. Woodrow, Babylon Mystery Religion.

In Egypt, she was called Isis, and her son Osiris
In Egypt, she was called Isis, and her son Osiris. (Osiris, however, was not only her son, but her husband.)

In Greece, she was known as Aphrodite, and her son Eros
In Greece, she was known as Aphrodite, and her son Eros. (“Eros” is Greek word for romantic or sensual love)

In Phoenicia, the mother was known as Astarte, or Ashtar, and the son known as Baal.
In the book of Judges, when Israel fell into apostasy, “They forsook the Lord and served Baal and Ashtaroth.” (Judges 2:13) (“Ashtaroth” or “Ashtoreth” was the name by which the goddess was know to the children of Israel..and sometimes the Son is referred to in the Bible as Baalim) This happened repeatedly in Israel history. Judges 10:6 I Sam 7:3,4;12:10 I Kings 11:5 II Kings 23:13 Sometimes this goddess was referred to by the title “the queen of heaven” (Jer. 44:17-19)

In Rome, she was known as Venus, and her son Jupiter or sometimes referred to as Cupid.

THE WORSHIP OF MARY

P e r g a m o s H When the pagan’s were baptized into the church (not converted: 2 Cor 5:17) their worship of the pagan goddess, was simply transferred to Mary Mary begins in this church period to pick up the names and titles that were for the pagan goddess, which none of them can be biblically applied

THE MADONNA

P e r g a m o s H Nimrod had come to be known as Baal.
The equivalent of the female form of the word was “Baalti” The English translation: “My Lady” The Latin translation: “Mea Domina” The Italian translation: “Madonna”

THE QUEEN OF HEAVEN

P e r g a m o s H In the book of Jeremiah, when the children of Israel went into apostasy, and worshipped according to the Tower of Babel religion, they worshipped the female deity called, “The Queen of Heaven”

(Jer 7:18) The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.

(Jer 44:16-17) As for the word that thou hast spoken unto us in the name of the LORD, we will not hearken unto thee. But we will certainly do whatsoever thing goeth forth out of our own mouth, to burn incense unto the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem: for then had we plenty of victuals, and were well, and saw no evil.

P e r g a m o s H In the book of Jeremiah, when the children of Israel went into apostasy, and worshipped according to the Tower of Babel religion, they worshipped the female deity called, “The Queen of Heaven” The worship of the Queen of Heaven biblically, is characterized by rebellion and Idolatry

THE LADY (STAR) OF THE SEA

P e r g a m o s H There is no biblical connection of Mary to anything having to do with the sea. In Phoenicia, it was one of the titles of the mother goddess who came forth out of the egg that had dropped from heaven into the Euphrates

THE MEDIATRIX

P e r g a m o s H Obviously, the term means mediator
In the Roman Church, it is not just a title of Mary, but a position she is assumed to hold as far as prayer is concerned.

(1Ti 2:5) For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

P e r g a m o s H Obviously, the term means mediator
In the Roman Church, it is not just a title of Mary, but a position she is assumed to hold as far as prayer is concerned. The title comes from another one of the names of the pagan mother goddess, “Mylitta” which means, mediator. Ralph Edward Woodrow, Babylon Mystery Religion,12

THE MOTHER OF GOD

Since Mary did give birth to Jesus and Jesus was God, wouldn’t that make her “The Mother of God”?

P e r g a m o s H To find where the title originated, you cannot go to the Bible. “Mother of God” was one of the titles by which Isis was known..the name of the mother goddess of the Tower of Babel religion in Egypt. Later, the title began to be applied to Mary by the theologians in Alexandria, Egypt. Woodrow, Babylon Mystery Religion,12

P e r g a m o s H Our Lord was very careful never to give anyone the wrong impression about the position of Mary as his Mother Jesus never referred to her as “Mother”

(Joh 2:3-4) And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.

(Joh 19:25-27) Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son! Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.

P e r g a m o s H Jesus never reverenced Mary more than any other woman, and never gives the impression to the disciples or anyone else that she should ever be mentioned in prayer. He always calls her by the indefinite, feminine, collective noun “woman”

(Mar 3:31-35) There came then his brethren and his mother, and, standing without, sent unto him, calling him. And the multitude sat about him, and they said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren without seek for thee. And he answered them, saying, Who is my mother, or my brethren? And he looked round about on them which sat about him, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren! For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.

P e r g a m o s H When He finally calls someone His “Mother” He purposely points to someone other than Mary. Jesus was stressing the importance of being related to him, not by a physical birth, but by a spiritual birth.

(Luk 1:31-32) And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:

(Luk 1:46-47) And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.

(Luk 1:48) For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. (Act 8:33) In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth. (Php 3:21) Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

(Luk 1:49) For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name.

JESUS’ RESPONSE TO MARY WORSHIP

(Luk 11:27-28) And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked. But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.

Revelation Worshiping Mary though her titles Mary’s biblical response Prayers to Mary

P e r g a m o s H If Mary is the “Mother of God” then Mary is actually stronger, more mature, and more powerful than Christ, because she becomes the source of His being. Thus, the reasoning, “He came to us through Mary, and we must go to Him through Mary.”

P e r g a m o s H In, The Glories of Mary, written by Bishop Alphonsus de Liguori, (recognized as one of the greatest devotional writers of the Roman Catholic church..also canonized as a “saint” by Pope Gregory XIV in 1839 and declared a “doctor” of the Catholic Church by Pope Pius IX), and in which the editors note says he “speaks for the church”, says of Mary… “And she is truly a mediator of peace between sinners and God. Sinners receive pardon by Mary alone.” Bishop Alphonsus de Liguori, The Glories of Mary, 82-83

P e r g a m o s H “Mary” is our life..Mary in obtaining this grace for sinners by her intercession, thus restores them to life. Bishop Alphonsus de Liguori, The Glories of Mary, 80 “He fails and is lost who has not recourse to Mary” Bishop Alphonsus de Liguori, The Glories of Mary, 94

(Col 3:4) When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
(Joh 14:6) Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (1Ti 2:5) For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

964 Mary's role in the Church is inseparable from her union with Christ and flows directly from it. "This union of the mother with the Son in the work of salvation is made manifest from the time of Christ's virginal conception up to his death";504 it is made manifest above all at the hour of his Passion: Thus the Blessed Virgin advanced in her pilgrimage of faith, and faithfully persevered in her union with her Son unto the cross. There she stood, in keeping with the divine plan, enduring with her only begotten Son the intensity of his suffering, joining herself with his sacrifice in her mother's heart, and lovingly consenting to the immolation of this victim, born of her: to be given, by the same Christ Jesus dying on the cross, as a mother to his disciple, with these words: "Woman, behold your son."505

965 After her Son's Ascension, Mary "aided the beginnings of the Church by her prayers."506 In her association with the apostles and several women, "we also see Mary by her prayers imploring the gift of the Spirit, who had already overshadowed her in the Annunciation."507

966 "Finally the Immaculate Virgin, preserved free from all stain of original sin, when the course of her earthly life was finished, was taken up body and soul into heavenly glory, and exalted by the Lord as Queen over all things, so that she might be the more fully conformed to her Son, the Lord of lords and conqueror of sin and death."508 The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin is a singular participation in her Son's Resurrection and an anticipation of the resurrection of other Christians:

967 By her complete adherence to the Father's will, to his Son's redemptive work, and to every prompting of the Holy Spirit, the Virgin Mary is the Church's model of faith and charity. Thus she is a "preeminent and . . . wholly unique member of the Church"; indeed, she is the "exemplary realization" (typus)510 of the Church.

968 Her role in relation to the Church and to all humanity goes still further. "In a wholly singular way she cooperated by her obedience, faith, hope, and burning charity in the Savior's work of restoring supernatural life to souls. For this reason she is a mother to us in the order of grace."511

969 "This motherhood of Mary in the order of grace continues uninterruptedly from the consent which she loyally gave at the Annunciation and which she sustained without wavering beneath the cross, until the eternal fulfillment of all the elect. Taken up to heaven she did not lay aside this saving office but by her manifold intercession continues to bring us the gifts of eternal salvation . . . . Therefore the Blessed Virgin is invoked in the Church under the titles of Advocate, Helper, Benefactress, and Mediatrix."512
