Explanation
Thesis (or Central Idea)
The main idea the author wants the audience to understand and remember
Evidence
The types of evidence used such as examples, stating authority, using facts.
Organizational Structure
The order in which information and ideas are presented and connections that are drawn between them
Tone
The author’s attitude toward the topic and audience, conveyed through word choice
Language Use
The author’s choice of words and use of language devices, such as figurative language, repetition, and imagery
