Entrepreneurial Mindset 3 Simple but Not Easy Questions
Give each student a notecard and ask them to write their name on their notecard. (You can use notebook paper if you do not have notecards.) Tell your students they will be asked 3 simple but not easy questions, one at a time. You will give them 60 seconds to answer each question. When they have the answer to the question they should write it on their notecard. Let them know you will pay them for correct answers. 1 YE dollar for the first correct answer 2 YE dollars for the second correct answer 3 YE dollars for the third correct answer Each student has the potential to earn 6 YE dollars. Tell your students to raise their hand when they are ready for you to check their answers.

3 Simple (but not easy) Questions
A bat & ball cost $1.10 total. The bat was $1 more than the ball. How much was the ball? If it takes 5 machines, 5 minutes to make 5 widgets. How long will it take 100 of those machines to make 100 widgets? If lily pads double in size every day and will cover the entire pond in 48 days, how long will it take those lily pads to cover half the pond? Read each question out loud to your students. After you read it give them 60 seconds to answer before moving on to the next question. If you see them helping one another do not stop them! Circulate the room to observe their behaviors and discussions but try not to offer any support or answers. As they raise their hands, check their answers. Pay them according to the number of answers they have correct.

3 Simple (but not easy) Questions
A bat & ball cost $1.10 total. The bat was $1 more than the ball. How much was the ball? $0.05 If it takes 5 machines, 5 minutes to make 5 widgets. How long will it take 100 of those machines to make 100 widgets? 5 Minutes If lily pads double in size every day and will cover the entire pond in 48 days, how long will it take those lily pads to cover half the pond? 47 Days Suggested questions to ask… What is going on with the questions and answers? How did you feel about the answers? Why are we using these questions? Humility! How did you behave or react once you found out how you did? *We want to coach the students toward the right answers but that isn’t the point. The point is that it is ok for you to not have the right answer and we want to model how to behave when you get it wrong or right and how to go about finding the answers. These questions are actually called the “Cognitive Reflection Test” and the goal of its design is to identify patience & risk preference. The entrepreneurial journey seems like the fast track to wealth and prosperity. But it typically lasts a lifetime and has a lot of risk and reward along the way. In this class and in life we want you to take the journey. It’s ok to say, “I don’t know. I wan to find out.”
