What we do? Phase 1-phonological awareness
General sound discrimination Rhyme Oral blending Oral segmenting Skills for later phases

Phase 2- Teach the children 1 new sound a week Practice daily in literacy and in a discrete phonics lesson Re-enforce through all writing activities Read with the children

What can you do? Hear your child read every night.
Practice letters and sounds of the week with the children Encourage name and letter writing

e.g. backs- your own and on somebody else

Practising letter formation
Sensory writing- shaving foam, bath, sand, paint etc. Whiteboard writing Paper- coloured pens, pencils, crayons, paint brushes.
