1 The Aerospace QMS Standards Portfolio an Update
Sidney Vianna June 14th, 2006

2 The Aerospace Industry
Globalization of the Supply Chain OEMs and Tier 1 collaborating (selectively) ever more closely Establishment of the International Aerospace Quality Group and the Sector Groups: AAQG, EAQG and APAQG Version 10 April 2019

3 The Aerospace Industry
Regulatory oversight Need to find cost effective ways to manage the risk of the supply chain Proliferation of company specific quality system requirements being flown down to suppliers created additional costs and confusion with no measurable return. ISO 9001 not good enough AS9000 FAA D1-9000 ISO-9001 MIL-I MIL-Q DoD Company Specific Req’mts NASA Inputs Output AAQG process Version 10 April 2019

4 The “certifiable” Standards
AS9100 AS9110 AS9120 AS9003 The GOAL Degree of confidence on Certificates OEM oversight of suppliers Version 10 April 2019

5 The associated checklists
Detracting from the process approach to auditing Provide for a quantified score result Sensitive information “available” through OASIS Version 10 April 2019

6 The “support” standards
AS9006 Deliverable Aerospace Software Supplement for AS9100A AS9102A Aerospace First Article Inspection Requirement AS9103 Variation Management of Key Characteristics AS9131 Quality Systems Non-Conformance Documentation AS9132 Data Matrix (2D) Coding Quality Requirements for Parts Making AS9133 Qualification Procedure for Aerospace Standard Parts Many others are available and also being developed Version 10 April 2019

7 Who requires the AS9100 implementation and certification. Deadlines.
As mentioned before, most OEM & Primes are flowing down AS9100 implementation and certification requirements Version 10 April 2019

8 Aerospace Recommended Practices
ARP9004 Direct Ship-Recommended Practices for Aerospace Companies ARP9034 A Process Standard for the Storage, Retrieval and use of Three - Dimensional Type Design Data ARP9062 Aerospace Operator Self-Verification Programs ARP9090 Requirements for Industry Standard e-Tool ARP9134 Supply Chain Risk Management Guideline Version 10 April 2019

9 The controlling Standards
AIR5359B Requirements for Certification/Registration of Aerospace Quality Management Systems AIR5493A Requirements for Development, Implementation and Control of Aerospace Auditor Training AS9104A Requirements for Aerospace Quality Management System Certification/Registration Programs FUTURE AS ICOP AS CRB Oversight process AS Aerospace Auditor Competence & Training Courses Version 10 April 2019

10 AS9100 Includes all of ISO 9001:2000 quality management system requirements and specifies additional requirements for a quality management system for the aerospace industry. The additional aerospace requirements are shown in bold, italic text. Harmonized Worldwide – EN9100, SJAC 9100, NBR15100…. Many OEMs and Primes requiring their supply base to attain certification to this standard, under the ICOP process. Boeing, Airbus, Bombardier, Embraer, GE AE, UTC, Northrop, Lockheed Martin, Honeywell Aerospace and many more. Over 6,200 organizations already certified to 9100 according to the OASIS database Version 10 April 2019

11 AS9100 Rev. C Expected sometime in the 2008-2009 timeframe.
Design Specification is available Public input requested and welcomed Version 10 April 2019

12 AS9100 Rev. C Other stakeholders trying to influence it’s scope:
certification/registration bodies & training organizations, civil aviation authorities, defense / NATO, IAQG and IAQG sector member companies, space sector, and suppliers. Version 10 April 2019

13 AS9100 Rev. C Version 10 April 2019

14 AS9100 & OASIS data Version 10 April 2019

15 AS9100 & OASIS data Average Scores per CRB Most Entries Least Entries
Version 10 April 2019

16 AS9100 & OASIS data Major (MA) and Minor (mi) NCs per Audit (Americas Sector) Version 10 April 2019

17 AS9110 Developed for Aerospace organizations involved with repair, maintenance & overhaul activities European equivalent: EN9110 Accreditation Schemes in the final stages of deployment in the US Few organizations certified to it for the time being; all are in Europe Potential for a large market – All repair stations around the World are potential users of the document One of the primary 9110 stakeholders, the airlines, are for the most part, oblivious to this Standard Regulatory Agencies, such as FAA, have not officially endorsed it, yet. Version 10 April 2019

18 AS9120 For Aerospace “pass-through” distributors
European equivalent – EN9120 If “value added work” is done to the parts/material, then 9100 should apply. Around 200 organizations certified to, Worldwide with approximately 60, in the US. ANAB AS9120 accreditation Scheme up and running Version 10 April 2019

19 AS9003 Controversial document; less than ISO 9001
Most OEMs are distancing themselves from it Boeing has recently sent a letter stopping it’s flow down to suppliers Lockheed Martin and NASA are flowing it down No equivalent documents in Europe or Asia ANAB has an AS9003 accreditation program up and running Version 10 April 2019

20 Version 10 April 2019
