Hatchet Survival Kit

2. Hatchet
The first item I would choose is a hatchet. I chose the hatchet because it is a tool for hunting, safety, and fire. In the novel Hatchet the main character Brian used his hatchet to make weapons such as a bow and arrow. That’s why I chose the hatchet as my first item.

3. Water
My second item would be water. I chose water as my second item because it would prevent me from drinking ocean and lake water. In the novel Brian was so thirsty he drank lake water. That’s a time he could have used a bottle of water. Water would be a good thing to have.

4. Food
I chose food as my third item because I won’t starve. In the novel Brian gets really hungry it would be good to have a hamburger . I think food is important on an island. That’s why I chose food.

5. First Aid Kit
I chose a first aid kit because if I got hurt I could fix myself. When Brian got shot with quills by a porcupine a first aid kit would be helpful. A first aid kit could help anyone whenever they got hurt. That’s why I chose the first aid kit as my fourth item.

6. Matches
I chose matches as my fifth item because it would give me fire. Animals are also naturally afraid of fire. So that would protect you from bears, porcupines, and raccoons. Matches would be a great thing to have in a survival kit.

7. Gun
My sixth survival kit item is a gun. I chose the gun because it is a tool for hunting. When picking raspberries a bear came up to Brian . The gun could have helped Brian get food… bear meat. Bear meat would be like a feast! That’s why I chose a gun.

8. Tent
I chose a tent as my seventh item because it would give me shelter. Shelter is important because it protects people from bugs. For example when Brian was attacked by mosquitoes he could have used a tent. That’s why I chose a tent.

9. Emergency Transmitter
I chose the emergency transmitter as my last item because I could get help. When Brian crashed and got on land he could have radioed for help. The emergency transmitter would be a great item in a survival kit.
