APTR Student Newsletter
October 2011 APTR Student Newsletter Message from the Program Director Greetings APTR Students! The APTR Program is steadily growing and graduates are ing me regularly about their successes. I will be sharing some of these successes periodically in the students’ newsletters. I really enjoy teaching and getting to know you. I am often thinking of ways to help students learn. I encourage all of you to keep me informed on how you are growing academically and professionally. Chalonda Jones-Thomas, M.A.Ed., R.T. Chalonda Jones-Thomas at Got Questions? Graduate Success Story George J. Martinez R.T.(R) (ARRT) Supervisor of Schryver Medical Mobile Division What I enjoyed best about the APTR program was the flexibility and timeliness that it allowed in order for me to finish my RT. I am highly convinced that you cannot put a price on convenience and time, especially while trying to balance full time work responsibilities and full time family responsibilities all at once. This made once. This made PMI’s option so attractive and worthwhile. After so many years working in the field, it was a lot of fun and interesting to dive back in and learn the fundamentals of my profession again. My advise for APTR students is this: Although this will not be easy, it will be an attainable and manageable goal if you keep a few things in mind: Do not procrastinate. Always look a few steps ahead. Allow yourself the time you need to succeed. Make your own classroom schedule. If you start to feel pressured and burdened, recharge your desire by keeping your eye on the prize. This will lead you to a successful end and a brighter future! For anyone who has worked in the imaging field but has not yet become registered through the ARRT, I urge you to do so without any further hesitation. Unregistered imaging professionals, I believe, are quickly becoming obsolete and the sun is setting on these types of technologists. In an age with so much government and agency healthcare regulation, if you enjoy working in the field of Radiography, it is essential that you possess the proper credentials. In addition, do it for yourself. It feels really good to shed some of that weight off your shoulders and become a full-fledged technologist. I know when I finally did, I felt like I had shed a 10,000-lb. gorilla off my back that had been sitting there for 10 years. eping your eye on the prize. APTR Tutoring Program Do you need help understanding concepts or mathematical formulas? APTR now has a tutoring program. Contact the APTR tutor, Lillian Rossadillo. (520) This service is not intended to replace communication with your instructors. Always contact your instructors first if you have a question. If you feel that you need more practice in certain areas, this service is for you! NEW! Updated Honors Requirement PMI’s Director of Education, Ty Druse, announced on September 12 that PMI will be raising the student honors distinction to 3.75 for all programs. This decision was based on a survey compilation and statistical review of grade grade distributions from In addition, students who fail one or more course will no longer be eligible for honors.
