Desktop: PVX is our desktop application designed to work with any USB camera, and with a laptop or PC
Office: The V500 is ideal for small offices or home offices that need quality video (H.264) and audio (Siren 14) for communicating with the corporate office or customers. The small form factor includes integrated microphone, speaker and manually adjusted camera.
VSX 3000 is perfect for the executive office or for small offices with a single participant. This sleek solution includes a 17” high resolution flat panel display, integrated microphones, speakers and manually adjusted camera. This system offers H.264 video, Siren 14 audio, and StereoSurround for the best audio and video in the market today.
Conference Room:
Entry: VSX 5000 is ideal as an entry level group system, offering many of the qualities you’d expect to find in higher performing products. This system includes a tabletop microphone and remote controlled electronic PTZ camera. The VSX 5000 includes ProMotion, H.264, Siren 14, and when speakers are attached – supports Polycom StereoSurround for ultimate voice clarity and sound.
Mainstream: VSX 7000 series, consisting of the 7000s and 7000e, is ideal for mainstream video users that require expansive collaborative capabilities. People+Content and the ability to display to a second monitor are options that enhance the ability to share data, movies, pictures and other content during a video conference. Additionally, MPPlus can be added for 4-way multipoint capability. All VSX 7000 series systems include ProMotion, H.264, Siren 14, and Polycom StereoSurround for ultimate voice clarity and sound.
Performance: VSX 8000 series is ideal for custom integrated rooms that require extensive collaborative capabilities. Data sharing is standard on the VSX 8000 systems, as well as ProMotion H.264, which gives even better audio quality at data rates starting as low as 384Kbps. 15. Polycom Siren 14 – G.722.1 Annex C Best Audio in the Market
Polycom’s Siren 14 has now been embraced by the ITU-T standards body as the framework for G Annex C
Per ITU testing, G.722.1C scored better than MPEG-4 in all three test experiments including testing for:
Clean Speech
Reverberant Noisy Speech
Music and Mixed Content
G.722.1C produces better audio than MPEG-4, while using less bandwidth in a call and far less compute
Siren 14 is the audio standard that Polycom has included in all of their products, including the software-only desktop solution, PVX. Until now, this has been a proprietary standard. Recently ITU-T ratified Siren 14, calling it G.722.1C and performed multiple tests, comparing it to MPEG-4, known also as AAC-LD.
In all three tests, Polycom’s audio standard outperformed MPEG-4 – proving that Polycom has the best audio in the videoconferencing market.

Polycom is the first manufacturer in the industry to support SIP on video endpoints.
The VSX products support audio and video connectivity and far-end camera control through a SIP connection. This includes support for H.264 and Siren 14.
Polycom has been developing, experimenting with and demonstrating SIP technology publicly for two years. In 2002, Polycom conducted a technology demonstration of SIP on both Voice and Video endponts at VON. In 2003, Polycom introduced SIP support on IP desktop phones and, that same year, announced SIP support on Voyant audio bridge products. Now, in 2004, Polycom announces SIP support across the V series products. By the end of this year, Polycom will extend SIP support to the MGC video bridge products. So, you see, Polycom has played an important role in promoting SIP technology and adopting the protocol in our products.
Today, Polycom video endpoints are supported through Microsoft LCS and Nortel MCS 5100 and Look for even more partnerships and extended support with other servers over the next several months.
