Read smarter, not harder! Budget your time/ workload, try different methods. Notice the visuals . Read actively! Check in before, during and after you read (See figure on pg. 23).

4 Read Actively During Reading: Take Notes and Respond
Highlight or take notes on key points. Write down comments, questions, or ideas you have. Look up new words when you need to.

5 Read Actively Before Reading: Preview and Ask Questions
Seems like a waste of time? A 2 minute preview can help you figure out a lot about what you’re reading and how to read it! Steps: Read before & after materials Flip through the text noticing visuals, organization etc. Ask yourself: “What did I learn? What is my goal? So how should I read this?”
