2 approx. 23% school children eat fruit and vegetables every day Almost 40% pupils eat sweets at least once a day; girls eat sweets in average 11% more than boys Crisps are eaten at least once a week by 59% pupils, but 7,7% – eat them at least every day

3 28,8% respondents have increased vegetable consumption, 19,6% have decreased fat consumption and 18,1% decreased use of sugar 58% use vegetables (63% women, 49% men) and 40 % use fruit (44 % women, 31% men) every day (Research by company Unilever, 2011)

4 12,7% pupils drink sweet drinks with gas at least once a day, but every week – 65,8% 14,6% pupils never eat breakfast in the school day mornings, but 21,1% – have breakfast not regularly According to research results 6,7% respondents – pupils have overweight, but 0,9% – obesity Overweight and obesity are an increasing public health problem (Statistics, 2011)

5 During the last year 28,8% respondents (20,6% men and 36,6% women) increased consumption of vegetables in their daily diet, 19,6% respondents (12,8% men and 26,1% women) decreased use of fats and 18,1% respondents (11,9% men and 23,8% women) decreased use of sugar. What is important positive tendencies in healthy eating have come from women with the higher education level.

6 About 15% of population has obesity problems; 20,9% of women age 18 to 74 suffer from adiposity; 12% of men suffer from adiposity.

8 Respondents: junior pupils (74), age 9 – 11, Forms 3 and 4: 11% chose pizza and fries for their meal (picture 1) 12% chose pizza, fries and salad (picture 2) 50% chose pizza, salad and fruit (pict.3) 27% chose fries and milkshake (pict.4)

9 Soup 27% Vegetables: 78% cabbage, carrots, tomatoes Fruit: 87% apples, cherries, bananas

10 + self-grown vegetables, fruit, berries + mainly home-made meals - Alcohol consumption – quite high, mainly among lower educated groups - Tobacco - active and passive smoking - We use too less fish and vegetables - Because of economic situation in the country, people choose cheaper and lower quality food

13 A few celery stalks Boiled eggs Canned sweet/green peas Mustard powder – 1-2 tea spoons Salt Mayonnaise Celery and eggs – cut, add all the other ingredients, leave for 2 hrs in the fridge, then serve.
