10. •Phonics is just the beginning to becoming a fluent reader… Please continue to read with your child each night and encourage them to:
• Talk about the pictures and what the book may be about before reading
•Sound out.
•Re-read to check it makes sense.
•Use pictures for clues.
•Ask questions about the book. This becomes more and more important as children become stronger readers in the Reception year.
