Math
Writing
In Math, students will develop visual images of 2-D and 3-D images and geometric language for identifying and describing them. They will focus on the shapes and the number of faces as they describe, sort and draw. They will also begin fractions and focus on equal parts of a whole.
In Writing, the students will begin writing nonfiction books of all kinds. The students will be invited to shape their expert information in new way. They will be creating how to books, question-and-answer books, life cycle books and more.
Reading
In Reading, the students are continuing to read nonfiction books. They will be reading to find how parts go together and will start the big work of comparing and contrasting information inside texts, as well as comparing and contrasting information across different texts.
Science
In Science, the students are learning all about Balance and Motion. They are working on experiments involving push and pull. They are learning that pushes and pulls can have different strengths and directions and that by pushing and pulling on an object, they can change the speed or direction of its motion and can start or stop it
Social Studies
In Social Studies, the students will be learning how geography and natural resources shape where and how urban, suburban, and rural communities develop and sustain themselves.
