Click to make the sum appear
Click to make the sum appear. Read the numerals and symbols aloud as they appear and encourage the students to join in. Click to make the first set of objects appear. Encourage the students to identify how many of the objects there are, by pointing to each one in turn as they count them. Click to make the second set of objects appear. Again, encourage the students to communicate the number in the set. “read them sum as it is shown (e.g. “Two elephants add one more giraffe makes…how many animals altogether?”. Count the first set, then point to the additional item and leave an expectant pause, for the students to count on (e.g. “one, two…”) Click to make the answer appear. Repeat for the rest of the slides. For the final slide, review the sums. Suggest that looking at the numbers as a pattern could help the students to remember the answers. Click to make the pictures change order so that they start with the smallest number and progress to the biggest one. Identify and discuss the patterns in the sums and their answers. On the last slide, click to make the learning outcome appear and click again to trigger the smiley face and applause.
