Thermal Modeling of Standard and HP-SD Ablation Tissue temperature distribution with standard ablation and HP-SD ablation at maximal energy effect after 20 s and 4 s, respectively. The zone of irreversible myocardial injury that is ≥50°C includes the zones maximal heating (red area) and submaximal heating (yellow-green area) and is comparable in size between the 2 ablation settings. However, the zone of reversible injury (white line) is larger with standard ablation. In addition, the zone immediately under the catheter (endocardial surface) is more effectively heated with HP-SD ablation, resulting in less endocardial sparing compared with standard ablation.
