1 2018 NRS FIA Management Team Meeting DATIM December 11-12, 2018 — Manhattan, Kansas By Liz Burrill Presented by Scott Pugh

2 Bottom Line Up Front (BLUF)
DATIM has made great progress. People are working hard – and getting things done. The UNLV and SUU staff are fantastic. Biggest Challenge: constructive feedback from users – NFS and FIA. Need to get more people using the tool.

4 How the work gets done DATIM Core Team – guides overall development and progress towards requirements DATIM System-wide Development Team ATIM Development Team SIT Development Team DCS Development Team DTIM Development Team Documentation Team 508 Team Training Team

5 Last two releases 8.0 and 8.1: 9.0:
Capitalized on EVALIDator by using API with Live FIADB Implemented Hangfire solution for DCS DTIM work flow improvements Clarified user roles 9.0: added more standard reports Integrated eAUTH with SIT improved integration between ATIM and DTIM Improved DTIM precision work flow Improved speed

6 IN PRODUCTION NOW DATIM 9.1 Initiate work: 4/2018
Production Release: 9/2018 (9/24/2018) Minor Release: Improve SIT performance with large datasets Filter datasets for NFS Bugs and interface issues including 508 Labels and clarifying language to improve user experience IN PRODUCTION NOW

7 Strategic Goals/Highlights
10.0 (winter 2018/2019) 11.0 (summer 2019) 12.0 (winter 2019/2020) DATIM Manage Users Administrator Page #404 Team sharing of DATIM products #592, #593 Provide support for urban data #695 PPD integration DATA MART Implement the logic to populate the FVS variant in DCS #133 Enable analysis data export to CSV file (including SIT attributes) #548 Load data into the data mart (including any new DWM, GRM, & VEG data) #126 Provide access to FIA annual data: Phase 3 Soils, including P2+ #720 FIA periodic data FIA annual data: Lichens ATIM Report customization backend and database overhaul #572 Open Analysis > National Forest > Filter analyses by NF #321 Allow authenticated users to save custom ATIM reports to data mart #106 Output ATIM results in mapped form-choropleth mapping #217 Display the SQL used to select data included in reports #410 Dynamic Graph Output Add circular retrieval filter to ATIM (via EVALIDator API) #470 Provide ratio estimates - Temporal filters & GRM ratios (via EVALIDator API) - Custom Reports #547 EVALIDator API report customization #176 Functionality for creating custom reports when multiple analyses are selected #471 Dynamic filtering [artf77393] #414 Export to stand visualization tool Add FIADB UG to the database with references to each estimate & PRC DCS Provide an automated way to assign FVS variants to ETL &/or analysis data #44  Use FSVeg volume equations to calculate estimates for yield table development #507 DTIM Administrative Tool

8 10.0 (winter 2018/2019) 11.0 (summer 2019) 12.0 (winter 2019/2020) SIT
10.0 (winter 2018/2019) 11.0 (summer 2019) 12.0 (winter 2019/2020) SIT New SIT wizard (add-in) to guide users through the workflow and user interface #292 Provide ability to edit (include/exclude) plots along boundaries #270 Accommodate the creation of custom estimation units, stratification, and POP tables #301 Enable use of SIT without requiring installation of ArcGIS on user's PC, access through Citrix, or multiple add-ins #707 Handle post-disturbance measurements (midcycle) #490 Identify plots that may have changed since the time of inventory due to disturbance; attribute the plot with a FACTS activity code, year and date #480 Integrate editing of analysis tables with SIT #481 Identify those plots that have changed since the time of inventory (harvest, fire, hurricane, tornado, land exchange) #489

9 DATIm 10.0 Initiate work: 4/2018 Production Release: 12/2018
Major Release Variations of growth, removals and mortality reports Improvement to Training Signup workflow and management of trainings Begin work on producing customized population estimation tables Clarification of user interface with improved labeling and tool tips Filtering of datasets for NFS use Choropleth mapping of output Dynamic graphical output Save reports to the DataMart DTIM Administrative Tool Manage Users Administrative Tool/Page

10 DATIM 10.1 Initiate work: 10/2018 Production Release: 4/2019
Minor Release addressing bugs and user interface issues. Addition of output from ATIM of SQL used to produce users given reports. Auto-select most recent evaluation by default for NFS reports. Enhancement of metadata throughout system.

11 DATIM 11.0 Initiate work: 10/2018 Production Release: 7/2019
Major Release with improvements to filtering options provided to users with use of dynamic filtering based on the analysis contents and grouping of filters. Continue efforts to provide customized population tables allowing users to create their own populations of interest with appropriate weighting. Ratio estimates (e.g. growth/removals, volume/acre) Allow for circular retrievals (aka wood basket reports) Customization of reports through API and for multiple analyses New SIT wizard

12 ATIM VS EVALIDator performance
Apples To Oranges: ATIM designed to create and store estimates and how they were created, EVALIDator for speed DATIM datamart supports varied inventory types and on-the-fly attribute generation, FIADB is fixed in design ATIM can not beat EVALIDator performance with its current database implementation How fast should ATIM be? At what cost?

13 Bottom Line DATIM has made great progress.
People are working hard – and getting things done. The UNLV and SUU staff are fantastic. Biggest Challenge: constructive feedback from users – NFS and FIA. Need to get more people using the tool.
