3. 2017 Youth Tour
Since 1957, Co-ops across the country have been sponsoring trips to our Nations Capitol so that our young students may witness our government in action.
More than 1,200 high school students across the nation will ascend on our nations Capitol from June 7-16.
United sponsors two students from within United’s service territory on an all expense paid trip of a lifetime.

Submit 2 letters of reference (1 must be a current teacher/principal)
Complete a 1-2 page essay or prepare a PowerPoint presentation (10 slides)

5. Choose one of the topics:
Less than 100 years ago, most people living in rural America did not have electricity in their homes. In your opinion, what are the major benefits of electricity and belonging to an electric cooperative?
In today’s world, managing energy use has become vital for a number of reasons, including climate change, energy independence and for reducing the costs people incur each month in using this vital commodity. Share why managing energy use—using electricity wisely and energy conservation—are important now and in the future?
All cooperative businesses adhere to seven guiding principles (as listed on United's Web site) and United in particular shows a great dedication to educating the youth in our local communities. Please explain why you think these cooperative values are important.
