The Ministry of Transport and  Civil Aviation Authority held a workshop for the aviation industry on the  future development and introduction of PBN in the New Zealand air traffic system.   Ministry and CAA had representations from the aviation industry for a coordinated approach.  18 November 2009 CAA PBN Industry Forum

4 International participation
CAA staff are actively participating in ICAO Regional and Headquarters meetings on PBN. New Zealand’s technical input to ICAO documents based upon its experience is resulting in changes to ICAO’s technical guidance material to States. 5 CAA Established an Airspace and Environment Policy Unit, which will undertake much of the longer term policy development work. This work will include the preparation of the National Airspace and Air Navigation plan and a related PBN implementation plan. 18 November 2009 CAA PBN Industry Forum

Airspace and Environment Policy Unit which will be responsible for the preparation of a new Airspace and Air Navigation Plan. This unit will be responsible for preparing a transition plan to steer the progressive roll-out of these technologies. 18 November 2009 CAA PBN Industry Forum

8 PBN Related Work Multilateration (MLAT) provides high accuracy surveillance in areas that are not able to be covered by conventional radar surveillance. RNP-AR Queenstown Airport. CAA is one of the first regulators in the world to put in place rules (Part 173) for the design of instrument flight procedures, which includes RNP approach procedures. 18 November 2009 CAA PBN Industry Forum
