Math sequencing at Ardrey Kell High School
ALL STUDENTS: NC Math 1 NC Math 2 NC Math 3 Higher Math (see below) Standard or Honors Standard or Honors Standard Math 3 Honors Math 3 Adv. Functions and Modeling Adv. Functions and Modeling Honors Discrete Math Honors Pre-Calculus* Honors Discrete Math AP Statistics AP Statistics AP Statistics AP Calculus AB & BC Please note: - *It is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED that students receive an A in Honors Math 3 and previous math classes before enrolling in Honors Pre-Calculus. Foundations-level math classes can meet the ‘higher math’ requirement for students not going to four year colleges or universities. Students in Standard Math 3 move to AFM Students should not move from a Foundations level course to Honors level in one year. Students MAY NOT double in math, with the following exceptions: Students who took Math 1 in 9th grade and received a final grade of an A as well as a 95% or higher on the EOC may double in Honors Math 2 and Honors Math 3 as a sophomore Rising seniors who have completed Pre-Calculus may double in AP Statistics and AP Calculus with teacher recommendation. Rising seniors may double in Pre-Calculus and AP Statistics ONLY on a case-by-case basis and ONLY with a teacher recommendation. Students who are off track to graduate on time may be administratively placed in two math classes.
