What is tango dance? Tango, a Spanish/Latin partner dance, with the corresponding musical style of tango music, that uses European ballroom dancing and percussive African influences. Dances from the candombe ceremonies of former slave peoples helped shape the modern day tango. Described as: “a sad thought that can be danced” “a vertical expression of a horizontal desire”
