2. Chikkamagaluru District is a “hard rock” terrain of Karnataka
It falls partially in Malnad region and dryland region.
Geographically it covers an area of Sq.kms, out of which 40% of area is Forest area.
Administratively, the District is divided into 2 sub divisions comprising of 7 taluks and very recently Ajjampura has been declared as Taluk.
227 GP’s, 34 Hoblis, 1124 villages, and 1170 Polling Stations.

Chikkamagaluru (ಚಿಕ್ಕಮಗಳೂರು) is a geographically unique district of Karnataka.
Coffee was supposedly first cultivated in India in Chikamagalur..
The mountains in Chikkamagaluru which are a part of the Western Ghats are the source of rivers like Tunga and Bhadra.
Mullayanagiri,which is the highest peak in Karnataka is located in the district.
It is also a tourist's paradise containing hill stations like Kemmanagundi and Kudremukh and waterfalls like Manikyadhara, Hebbe, Kallathigiri.
Chikkamagaluru district has a rich history as is seen in the Hoysala temple at Amrithapura. Wildlife enthusiasts would be interested in the Kudremukh National Park and Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary present in this district.

12. MAIN OBJECTIVES OF SVEEP ACTION PLAN
The First and Primary Objective of the SVEEP is to increase more voter Turnout in Comparision to last Assembly election – 2013.
To fill-up gender gap in enrollment. More women should be enrolled and push-up turnout of these voters to polling stations.
No PWD Voters are left out from the Enrollment and participation in the election process.
To Encourage the enrollment and Participation of the Transgenders in the Election Process.
Spreading awareness among the minds of SC ST Population to enroll in the voters list and participate in the Election process

13. MAIN OBJECTIVES OF SVEEP ACTION PLAN
To see that all Nomadic and Primitive Tribes are enrolled in the Voters List and voting process.
To create awareness among all young voters to get themselves registered in the Voter List as well as to participate in the election process
To create more and more awareness regarding Election process like ethical voting, EVMs, and VVPATs.
To create a sense of ownness in the minds of people regarding Democracy
To spread a message that greater participation of the people would give a stronger democracy.
To Reach and encourage all Labourers who have been working in the coffee estates in the District.

14. ANALYSIS OF LAST ASSEMBLY ELECTIONS - 2013
Average Percentage of Voting in the District during Last Assembly Elections was 75.47%
Assembly Constituency wise Polling Stations where Votes were Polled below 65% is listed below:

It is observed that due to Urban Apathy low turnout of voters during last assembly elections – 2013
Lowest turnout has been noticed in Naxal prone polling stations in Sringeri Assembly Constituency.

15. ACTION PLAN FOR ASSEMBLY ELECTION – 2018
To envisage more voter enrollment and ensure active participation of the People in the election process, a detailed action plan for the targetted groups has been framed out by the SVEEP Committee.
The following are worth mentioning here;
BAGs (Booth level Awareness Groups ) have been formed consisting,

BLO - Booth Level Officer
VA – Village Accountant
Anganawadi Worker
Asha Worker
Waterman
VRW – Village level Rehabilitation Worker (for PWDs)

To encourage more and more enrollment of voters and electoral participation of young voters - we have Identified Campus Ambassadors (CAs) across the Degree, Diploma, ITI, Ebgineering, Nursing, BEd, Post Graduate Centres, Law College, and Post-Matric Hostels.
Identified 6545 PWD voters (7.1%) in the electoral roll of the District. The responsibility of PWD voters enrollment and participation in the voting process has been given to VRWs and MRWs. (Multi Level Rehabilitation Workers)
Approximately 3000 SHGs under Department of Women and Child and 7000 SHGs under NRLM have been targeted to reach the women voters enrollment and electoral participation

Distirict Labour Officer, DD-VKI and JD-Industries has been nominated and directed to enroll all labourers in the district.
ITDP officer (Integrated Tribal Development Project) has been appointed for Tribals enrollment and electoral participation.
District Manager Ambedkar Development Corporation has been appointed to see that no SC ST voter is left behind the enrollment and election process.
Nodal Officers have been appointed for all 7 Taluks to monitor SVEEP activities in the respective Taluks.
JANASAMPARKA SABHAs will be conducted in Naxal prone areas, to redress their grievances & encourage them to get registered in the voter list as well as participate in the electoral process.
