Decide which map would be the best place to begin your city
On a white lined piece of paper, create a features/benefits chart and write a brief paragraph explaining why you chose that map over the others – be sure to put everyone’s name on the paper!

2. Developing your religion
Go to my teacher page and view the description of your Map’s climate.
On a lined piece of paper, describe how the people of your city believe their land was created and why they believe they have the geography and weather that they have. Where and how do they worship or celebrate their beliefs?

3. Developing your population
On a piece of white paper, describe the population of your city: How many people live there? What do they value? Come up with a motto for your city that shows what they value most. Use Google translate to translate your motto into latin
For instance, my motto is “quot libros quam breve tempus” (so many books, so little time)

4. Developing your Government
On a piece of white paper, describe the Government of your city: Who is in charge? How are they chosen? What are their titles? Who makes the laws? What are the penalties for breaking the laws? Do you have taxes? If so, how do they work?

You must have all other steps complete and graded by Mrs. Cole before you begin this step!!!
Choose one box top from the stack
On a plain white piece of paper you will write: Everyone’s name, the name of your city, and the map you chose.
Use a glue stick to glue this piece of paper on the outside of the box top.

Look at the map that you choose and decide on a specific location for your city. Keep in mind that your city will only take up about a square inch on your map.
Get one piece of each color construction paper that you think you will need for your map. Work together to decide how to create the geography of just your city, not the entire map! See example on the next slide.

8. Choosing your advancements
Each City gets 50 Advancement points to begin with.
Choose Which areas you’d like to place points into from the following list: boats, Laws, weapons, language, number system, irrigation, religion. You may assign points however you like, so long as you don’t go over 50 points total.
Be sure to consider your geography, values, and motto when you choose your advancements!
Record you choices on a lined piece of paper, neatly spelling each advancement and the points you spent.

9. Creating your presentation
On power point, create one slide for each part of your civilization: geography/climate, mythology, population/social, government, and advancements. Be creative and thorough in your detail!

10. Choosing further advancements
You may now spend 30 more advancement points! Each advancement on the new list (next slide) requires at least 10 points in certain other areas. The “pre- requisites are listed after each advancement. See mrs. Cole for questions.
