I cannot believe how fast the month of January flew by. We celebrated the 100th day of school and it was so exciting to see everyone dressed up as 100 year olds and to see all of the creative projects. We will be kicking into high gear in February getting our scholars ready for 1st grade. Please make sure you are completing the homework nightly and filling out the reading log.

What We’re Learning
Reading: Informational texts, Identifying main idea, identifying details
Phonics :Reading strategies, syllables, segmenting, diagraphs , blends
Writing: Names, Letters, Numbers, informational reports
Math: Counting, cardinal numbers, counting by 5’s to 100, Addition and Subtraction, number bonds
Science: Animals and Plants
Keep reviewing sight words from homework calendar

Reminders
Please remember that we do not celebrate birthday parties in classrooms. All birthday parties will be held at the end of our lunch person between 10:30 11 am. Please only bring store bought desserts.
Spend a few minutes each day reviewing sight words and practicing reading strategies.
Search for letters/words in books and magazines and use them to write sentences.
Have your child practice tying their own shoes and zipping their own jacket.
Have your child practice writing by stretching out words- do not tell them how to spell words!
