Nelson Mandela is known as the leader of the African National Congress, which was banned from 1948, He was imprisoned for more than 30 years, and in 1990, he was freed by white government. He shared the1993 Nobel peace prize with South Africa's president . In 1994, he was elected president of South Africa .
