2 TECHNICAL PRINCIPLES ACADEMY STRUCTURE
Technical principles is the fundamentals of goalkeeping. The technical principles are Hands, Shape, Movement , Positioning , Shotstopping , Crossing and Distribution . These principles are worked on every week if more than one session if only one session then I would look to pair them up. I.E Every session will include Hands, Shape and movement. The session would then progress to working on the other technical principles. This would then progress to the goalkeepers principles of play which then relates the technical principals to the principles of play which is related to the game and game scenarios

3 HANDLING ACADEMY STRUCTURE
Relaxed Set position on the balls of your feet ( No Bouncing) Soft hands Strong wrist Keep Square on (Body and head behind the ball ) Eyes focussed on the ball Lead your hands to the ball Move your feet to get body behind ball if ball is in your wingspan Chest and above catch. Palms facing out ( W shape) Stomach and below to feet palms facing in ( Scoop) ( If required take to ground) Dont allow elbows go behind body line. ( Take ball in front elbows out slightly bent) Dont catch open hands/around the ball ( Fingers and thumbs behind the ball i.e W shape) Dont stretch out to catch ( Move Your Feet)

4 SHAPE ACADEMY STRUCTURE Small quick controlled steps/movement
Step Forward into the ball Weight through front stud Diving side) Knee over foot (Diving side) Head behind the ball Eyes focussed on the ball Hands leading into the ball STEP , PUSH , DIVE (Collapse/ Explosive Dive) STEP , DRIVE , DIVE ( Low Dive)

5 MOVEMENT ACADEMY STRUCTURE
Controlled steps and stride length (shorter distances, small steps, larger distances, bigger steps) Move lateral and forward and back movements Remain in the set position while moving Alway remain controlled Keep head up and forward Remain square on to the ball/play

6 POSITIONING ACADEMY STRUCTURE In line and down the line of the ball
Play Deeper ( Give more reaction time) Move with relation to the ball. (To get in line and down line of the ball) Set quickly and if on the move set when the attacker goes to strike the ball SPEED , SET , SAVE

7 SHOTSTOPPING ACADEMY STRUCTURE
Same PRINCIPLES as Handling , positioning and shape Decision making ( Catch or Parry) Parrying (If parrying parry into good areas and get distance on the parries) (I.e Parry wide of the goals) Catch always when possible (1st option) Eyes Focussed on the ball Set early ( Don’t bounce) After save get up and Visualise the game

8 CROSSING ACADEMY STRUCTURE Judge the Height and Flight of the ball
Timing ( If catching the ball below head height to slow to attack the ball) Timing (If catching the ball behind your head to quick to attacking the ball Eyes Focussed on the ball Position to relation to the ball Movement when attacking the ball ( Take off foot) Decision Making ( When to attack the ball) Decision Making (Should we come or stay and defend the goal) Decision Making ( Catch or Punch) Attack the ball at your HIGHEST Point ( Not the balls) Clear Loud Shout ( Keepers or Away etc, Get good habits in training) Cut backs (Heels inline with the post and shoulders beyond the post)

9 DISTRIBUTION ACADEMY STRUCTURE Decision making
Good 1st touch out your feet Correct depth when receiving the ball Scanning and seeing pictures early Ability to Playing OUT TO , INTO and UP TO Variation of distributions ( Throwing , from ground , dead balls ,from hand) Accuracy of the pass from all variations of distribution Work on both strong and weak foot Weight of the pass and the throw.
