Include the page number
Write a paragraph that tells why you chose the passage and how it relates to the novel as a whole. What does the passage represent?

Be sure to include where it takes place, when it takes place, what mood the setting creates, etc.

Write a sentence that states the main theme or themes of the novel (love conquers all, drugs are bad, growing up is hard…)
If the theme is directly stated in the novel, write down the exact quote and page number that it appears on.
If the theme is indirectly stated, provide some examples from the story that helped you figure out the theme.

Write a paragraph that supports your claim.

Use quotes to show any use of colloquial language, figurative language.
Write a paragraph that discusses the importance of all of the above elements
