Renfrew & Bahn: Introduction, Chs. 1-4 (entirety), Ch. 5, pp , 2. Class notes 3. Video NB: learn these three elements by going through the Questions for Mid-Term! NB2: questions answered in labs are not part of mid-term! (unless they have been mentioned outside of labs)

Possible questions for mid-term:
Why is Heinrich Schliemann less important for archaeology than, say, General Pitt Rivers, despite his great discoveries? What formation process has caused the preservation of this body? What kind of conditions were beneficial to its preservation? 3. What is a systematic survey, what an intensive/extensive survey? 4. What is the difference between relative and absolute dating? Why does relative dating always need absolute dating?
