Student Learning Outcome
Use multiple texts to examine a significant public argument. Identify the range of important concerns, assumptions, appeals, and/or evidence, evaluating the relative persuasiveness of these texts and drawing connections among them.
6
Pro Tips Analyze the two texts you like the most.
Analyze the appeals and assumptions – they are the easiest because you’ve done it already.
7
Story Story time.

Outline for Rest of Day Group Work
9
Group Work All Class AGAIN.
You will split into TWO groups. That’s people per group! Your task is to craft a presentation in which you state that one article is more persuasive than the other. You will write on the board. For example, you will construct a presentation where your main argument is that article 1 is better than article 2, or vice versa. The WINNING TEAM gets 1 extra credit point in the portfolio section.
10
What You Should Do: Create a COOL group name. (MANDATORY!)
Elect 1 or 2 leaders of the group. Elect 1 or 2 people to present. Elect 1 or 2 people to be scribes. Delegate the analysis portion (have a few people work on ethos, a few work on logos, a few work on pathos, a few work on assumptions, a few work on relating to fake news).
11
Presentation Criteria
Explaining the persuasiveness and how your article is better than the other article. Discuss the APPEALS, ASSUMPTIONS, and RELATE TO THE SIGNIFICANT PUBLIC ARGUMENT OF FAKE NEWS. Write your findings on the board and present them to me and the class. DON’T STRESS OUT.
