4. The pH scale
A numerical scale to indicate how acidic or basic a solution is pH stands for “potential Hydrogen” or “power of Hydrogen”

5. What does pH measure?
The concentration of hydronium ions, H3O+ in a solution 2H2O OH– + H3O+
Water is constantly switching back and forth between water and ions

14. Why power of Hydrogen?
Soda has a pH of about 2.5!!
Each number on the pH scale is separated by a power of 10. This means that a solution of pH 3 is 10 times more acidic than something with a pH of 4 and times more acidic than pure water (pH 7)!
