Transport protein for cholesterol Considered the “bad” cholesterol Higher LDL levels put people at risk of heart attacks HDL – high-density lipoproteins Considered the “good” cholesterol Scavenges and removes LDL Reduces, reuses, and recycles LDL cholesterol by transporting it to the liver to be reprocessed “Cleans-up” the arterial walls Triglycerides – type of fat found in body Too high can lead to heart attack, diabetes and stroke

9 Trans Fats consumption of trans fats has shown to increase the risk of coronary heart disease in part by raising levels of the lipoprotein LDL (so-called "bad cholesterol"), lowering levels of the lipoprotein HDL ("good cholesterol"), increasing triglycerides in the bloodstream Can be naturally occurring (in the stomachs of some animals) or artificially made Artificially made because they are inexpensive to produce and give foods a better taste (mainly found in processed foods)
