GDS and Transformation - 2019 and beyond
It was great to hear from the Minister about the support he’s giving to GDS. I’d like to go into a bit more detail about our work. I want to talk about: The mission of GDS and the progress we have made What we will be focusing on in 2019 and beyond

GDS helps government work better for everyone by leading the digital transformation of public services This is our purpose - what we are here to do Scope of organisations we’re trying to help transform also includes local as well as central. Not just central gov departments, is public sector too. And this remains our purpose regardless of the wider context. While we are supporting government to deliver EU Exit - which I will talk about later - we are also working on long-term transformation.

You can see from the figures some of the things we’re doing Examples: GOV.UK - we are currently working with departments to communicate vital EU Exit-related information. GOV.UK Pay - which can be used to pay for emergency travel documents or for electronic visa waivers GOV.UK Notify - which is being used across central government and the wider public sector - including to send reminders for GP appointments The Digital Marketplace is now 4 years old - £4.5 billion has been spent through it, with more than 90% of the suppliers being small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs)
