What is Fencing? Fencing is the total length of the boundary which is nothing but perimeter of the shape. What is Cementing/ Levelling? Example 1: Find the cost of fencing a rectangular garden of length 19cm and breadth 25cm at the rate of Rs 6 per cm Note Cost of fencing – Perimeter Cost of cementing – Area Cost of leveling – Area Solution: Given: Length of a rectangular garden = 19 cm Breadth of a rectangular garden = 25 cm To find: Cost of fencing a rectangular garden To find the cost of fencing, we need to determine the perimeter of a rectangle. Perimeter of a rectangle = 2 x (length + breadth) = 2 x ( ) = 2 x 44 = 88 cm Cost of fencing 1 cm = Rs 6 Cost of fencing 88 cm = 88 x 6 =Rs 528 Ans : Cost of fencing the rectangular garden 88 cm is Rs 528

Ans : Cost of levelling a square flower garden is Rs 6250
Example 2:Find the cost of levelling a square flower garden of side 25 m at the rate of Rs 10 per metre. Note Cost of fencing – Perimeter Cost of cementing – Area Cost of leveling – Area Solution: Given: Side of a square flower garden = 25 m To find: Cost of levelling a square flower garden To find the cost of levelling, we need to determine the area of square. Area of a square = s x s = 25 x 25 = 625 m2 Cost of levelling 1 m2 = Rs10 Cost of levelling 1024 m2 = 625 x 10 =Rs 6250 Ans : Cost of levelling a square flower garden is Rs 6250

Ans : Cost of cementing the right triangular ground is Rs 500
Example 3: In a right triangular ground, the sides adjacent to the right angle are 20 m and 10 m. Find the cost of cementing the ground at Rs 5 per sq.m Note Cost of fencing – Perimeter Cost of cementing – Area Cost of leveling – Area Solution: Given: Base of the right triangle = 10m Height of the right triangle = 20m To find: Cost of cementing a right triangular garden To find the cost of cementing, we need to determine the area of triangle. Area of a triangle = x b x h 5 x 10 x 20 Divide 2 and 6 by 2 = = 5 x 20 = 100 m2 Cost of cementing 1 m2 = Rs5 Cost of cementing 100 m2 = 100 x 5 = Rs 500 Ans : Cost of cementing the right triangular ground is Rs 500
