Lab 7 Charles Law V = V T T PreLab due by : 4/25 Performance date: 4/25 In Room 220.
2
Pre Lab: Page 1 – I Intro – II Materials/Equipment – III Diagram Page 2 – IV Safety (see next frame) – V Procedure Next Page – VI Data Table (copy table 26-1 and add 2 columns for Trials 2 and 3)
3
Safety You must wear: close toed shoes (no flip flops or sandals) Apron, goggles and have long hair tied back Watch for hot surfaces – if you get a burn, run cold water over the burn Keep thermometers from rolling off counter
7
Write up is to include: Your prelab with your name on top right Lab # and name on top left Data Calculations Conclusions (discussion is titled conclusion) Graph

DATA See next slide
9
Calculations Lets do one complete set of calculations to find T and V. You will end up with 3 points to plot. T went from 96.0 o C to 25.5 o C #5 volume of gas collected: 206.5 cm 3 #8 pressure of dry gas 101.3 kPa x 760 mm = 759.8 mm 101.325Pa Correct for WVP: 25 = 23.8 x = 24.3 mm 25.5 x 759.8 mm - 100.0 mm – 24.3 mm = 728 mm 13.5
10
Calc., cont. #9: Use Boyles Law to find V V = PV = (#8)(#5) = 728 mm (206.5 cm 3 ) P (#6) 759.8 mm V = 197.9 = 198 cm 3 1stpoint to plot: T,V = 298.5K, 198 cm 3
