Notes from the Teacher
Please don’t forget to check your child’s planner every
night for homework and upcoming tests. Also, please check and
sign their reading log every night. 20 minutes of reading a night
can help to greatly increase children’s fluency and reading comprehension.
Reading
We are beginning the 2nd 9 weeks reading Number the Stars which is a historical fiction novel based around the Holocaust. We will be studying WWII and the Holocaust in Social Studies to tie in this book.
Writing
We will be working on many key concepts this 9 weeks including comparing Point of View, non-fiction text structures, and conjunctions.
Greek & Latin root word study-Unit 16-You can find a list of these words on my website.
Math
Students are working on multiplying decimals. We will take the Mid-Unit 2 math test this Friday.
*Please be sure to practice their multiplication/division math facts with your child.*
