Three main layers: Epidermis Dermis Layer of fat.

Epidermis The outermost layer. Thinnest layer Dead Skin Cells
Contains no nerves or blood vessels. That is why shallow scratches don’t bleed or hurt.

Most important part of protection Dead cells don’t feel pain Calluses Create fingernails Produces “melanin”
