Aware New Test Authoring Quick Guide Test Creation Wizard When the New Beta Version of Aware Test Authoring initially releases, the wizard will remain the same. The assessment will open in the Classic View (old) test authoring tool. You may use the Beta Toggle to use the new or old test authoring tool as you feel comfortable. To try the New Beta Version of Aware Test Authoring click the “Try Beta” button. Viewing the New Interface The new interface contains many of the same options as the old interface but has been rearranged to limit clicking and provide a more seamless experience for the test author. To return to the Classic View, simply click the “Switch to Classic View” button. | |

Aware New Test Authoring Quick Guide The Test Construction Panel The top left panel includes the name of the test, total number of questions contained on the test and the total number of questions for each level of complexity or Webb's Depth of Knowledge (DOK). The Standards section includes the total number of questions that have been added per learning standard. Hovering over a standard displays the learning standard description. The Types section displays the total number of questions per type that have been added to the assessment. | |

General Information The General Tab from the old interface has been replaced by a section in the new Test Construction Panel. To associate an additional or different course to the assessment, Click the Add a Course” option and choose a course from your course tree. To delete an assessment, click the “Delete” button in the “Remove Assessment” section at the very bottom of the Test Construction Panel. Student Instructions can be typed into the text box. These instructions will be available for students to read on both paper and online versions of the assessment. Clicking on the fields in the panel allow you to edit information contained in the panel. | |

Adding Questions From an Item Bank to Your Assessment Click the blue + icon where you want to add a question. All question available from your item banks for the learning standard selected will populate. You can Sort and Filter questions using the options in the panel to the right. Select “Search Item Bank”. To Add a question to the test, check the box. Choose Questions. A summary of the questions you’ve chosen will show on the left. Once you’ve finished choosing questions click “Add to Test”. Select a course from the drop down. Choose a learning standard or Select All Standards. | |

Adding Resources with Associated Questions from an Item Bank to Your Assessment Click the blue + icon where you want to add a question/resource. To view the questions attached to the resources, click the arrow at the bottom of the window. Select “Search Item Bank”. Check the box in the upper left hand corner to select the questions you wish to add. You do not need to select the resource. Adding a question attached to the resource will automatically add the resource. Choose “Resources”. All resources and attached questions in your item bank for the course associated to the test will populate. You can filter resources using the panel to the right. A summary of the questions/resources you’ve chosen will show on the left. Once you’ve finished choosing questions/resources click “Add to Test”. | |

Adding a New Blank Question to Your Assessment Click the blue + icon where you want to add a question. Numerical Response Choose “New Item”. Formatting Questions You Have Added to Your Assessment While in the Question View, you can change answer lettering options by clicking the Alternate Lettering button. The following formatting options appear in the toolbar and exist for most question types. Font Text Size Bold Italics Underline Subscript Superscript Remove all formatting Click to strip coding from text you have copied and pasted from another digital source. Insert a table Insert a picture Insert a numbered list Insert a bulleted list Text alignment options Decrease and increase indent The default lettering choice is; A B C D F G H J Turning Alternate lettering off results in; Clicking the “Edit” button in the question window opens the format toolbar. | |

Editing in the Test Key View The Test Key View can be accessed by clicking “Test Key” in the upper left hand Corner. To change the order of the items on your assessment, drag and drop questions to their new location. In the Test Key view, you can edit the following items: Item Number Correct Response Item Weight Primary Standard Secondary Standard Score Range (for Constructed Response type Questions) Clicking “Edit” opens the editing options for each question type. | |

Choosing Printing Options and Printing Your Test Printing your assessment is done from the Layout view. The Layout view offers a preview of what your printed test will look like. From this view, you can choose a booklet style, update your test status, and print test booklets and keys. Once you have made your selections, click “Print”. Hovering over a question or resource will open a toolbar that allows you to.. insert a page break , choose full or half width for questions and choose the number of lines between questions | |

Administration Options for Local and District Assessments Administration options are accessed under the Administration view. The test administration dates, and administration settings are chosen under the Collection tab. Under the Collection tab, test administrators can choose to turn on/off online testing and also indicate who is able to start and stop online testing sessions. Students are assigned the test under the Students tab. Students in selected courses - select the appropriate roster courses for the test. This is the most widely used option Students by their homeroom/advisor teachers - for each campus, select the homeroom/advisor teachers for the test. All students in the test's grade level - if all students for an entire grade will be taking the test and answer documents do not need to be organized by courses or teachers. Note: Only the test administrator can print answer documents by grade level. This option is not broken up by class and cannot be used for online testing. All students at selected campuses - for each campus that is selected in the Campus Tab, all students for each campus will be assigned to the test. Selected teachers for printing - for each campus, select the teacher associated with the test. Only the teacher will be able to print the answer documents. Other options under the Collections tab include, response pad and plain paper testing, enabling/disabling the calculator for online testing, and limiting the answers that can be entered by a teacher. | |

Administration/Sharing Options for Teacher and Team Tests Administration options for Teacher and Team Tests are accessed under the Administration view. Team Tests can be given an administration window. This is done under the Collection tab. Teacher Tests are Shared or Shared with the Team in the Administration view. Rescoreing and deleting/clearing answers sheets are done here as well. Teachers can choose to disable online testing and turn on the calculator for online testing if needed under the Collection tab | |
