First, turn in any work from last week, such as “My Adventure Booklet”.
Add the following vocabulary terms to their correct pages within your I.A.N.
Use the glossary in the back of your SpringBoard textbook to define these terms:

Essential Questions: How can talking and working with others help one analyze a novel?
How do internal and external forces help people grow?
Standard: ELASE6RL3 – Describe how a particular story’s or drama’s plot unfolds in a series of episodes as well as how the characters respond or change as the plot moves toward a resolution.
Learning Targets: Define the concept of change through the reading of a narrative. Apply understanding of narrative elements to reading and writing.

4. Language Arts – Work Session 12/04/17
“Up” Story Analysis – S.B. p. 119
First, you will need to work in groups of 3.
Then, open your SpringBoard textbook to page 119.
Decide who will take notes for each of the following categories:
Setting
Plot
Character
We will view certain clips from “Up”. You will take notes on your assigned portion on page 119.
After viewing the clips, you will share your notes with your group so that everyone will have a completed chart on page 119.

5. Language Arts – Work Session 12/05/17
“Up” Theme Analysis – S.B. p. 120
First, complete #1 based on your collaborative notes (notes from working together).
Then, work with your group to decide what you think the theme is for “Up”. Remember, the theme is the message of a story.
We will come together, as a class, to discuss possible themes. So, be sure to be ready to discuss your ideas!
Finally, answer the “Writing to Sources” section on page Remember to follow all parts of the directions.

6. Language Arts – Closing Session 12/04/17
Independent Reading
You should be on your FIFTH book of this school year, at least.
Your next Biblionasium book review will be due Friday, January 26, 2018.
Be sure that you have completed your book before Friday, January 26, 2018!
