Mrs. Sawyer’s – 2018 Syllabus Room 128B Webpage Phone #7291 Textbooks: Teachers’ Google Classroom, Teacher Provided Supplemental Materials, Independent Reading Book of choice, Class Novel, ESTRJ Revised Transition Rating Scale, REQUIRED Supplies Three ring binder only for this class – 1 ½” - 2” Divider Tabs for binder (at least six) Pens (prefer black and or blue) Kleenex and Hand Sanitizer(donation welcome) Pencils (mechanical is preferred) Daily assignment from your English course 3 holed pencil pouch with zipper for supplies in the binder Highlighters, glue, hole punch, erasers, colored pencils, markers (optional) Chromebooks and earbuds(for assignments only) The following topics will be covered this year: 1st Semester Everyday Study and English Skills 1st Quarter 2nd Quarter Transition Community Participation Transition Recreation and Leisure Transition Education 2nd Semester 3rd Quarter 4th Quarter Transition Employment and Careers Transition Adult and Daily Independent Living Breakdown of Grading Grades will be taken on a regular basis and can include, but are not limited to, homework, projects, participation, quizzes, tests, rubrics, classroom activities, and lab work. I grade using a Total Point System. Lab grades will be primarily based on the completion of the self assessment and teacher assessment on the daily lab rubric with 9 points possible each day for the areas of respect, responsibility, and preparation. 60% or higher will earn a CR credit on your progress report for ½ credit per semester. Semester exams are 20% per handbook. Class Expectations: Use your resources to complete daily assignments to earn points and credits towards graduation while behaving with a positive, respectful, and responsible attitude. Refer to the EHS Student Handbook for detailed information regarding classroom expectations and regulations (attendance, late work, homework, etc). Refer to your Individualizes Education Plan for your IEP details.
